Florence Schlegel Schürch is a Swiss illustrator living in Geneva.

She first pursued a successful fashion design career for more than a decade in Paris and London designing for renowned couture houses (Christian Dior, Azzedine Alaïa, L'Wren Scott).

In 2012 she decided to return to Switzerland to focus on her own creative projects and her family.

Soon after, she created Wonderology , a collection of trompe-l'oeil jewelry and of scarves printed with her drawings.

Since 2019 she devotes herself entirely to illustration, her primary passion.

"My fascination with the Flemish still lifes of the 17th century, the vanitas, the scientific illustrations of the 19th century helped to define the outlines of my universe, between naturalism and phantasmagoric poetry.

Many of my illustrations are done with a ballpoint pen, a tool that I particularly appreciate for its uncompromising appearance and powerful rendering but I also love working with watercolor, graphite and colored pencils.

My work is mainly inspired by Nature.

I strive to immortalize the pure and raw beauty of the latter.

From time to time an offbeat or incongruous element slips into my drawings and gives life to hybrid and fantastic creatures.

Instead of describing extinct or endangered species, under my pen new creatures are born ready to adapt and evolve to survive.

From my career as a fashion designer, I also kept a strong attraction for fashion illustration, portraits and lifestyle."
